My mother requested that I make her a representation of her wedding dress (which she still has) from 20+ years ago, which I decided to make into a modern representation with the train of her dreams.
I decided to surprise her with it during the holiday season, though she kinda knew that I was working on it, since she could see my chose of fabrics which we had already agreed upon. However, the finished result was beyond her expectations. Needless to say - she is extremely happy with it! :D.
History:
Summer of this year, 2015 - I came across two wonderful tutorials on art dresses, (miniature decorative dresses) by Scrappin Happyxo on YouTube:
Having basically followed her instructions, I used lace instead of cheesecloth for the bodice and used fabric instead of paper for the skirt. With that I made a matching fabric covered stand out of a bright neon green aerosol can lid and glued it to the skirt.
Later on... I made another paper mache bodice, still without cheesecloth, but this time with painted lace - it looked fabulous! Later I added glitter to it which ruined it so I made another one, didn't have quite enough lace - so I came up with a solution of having a hole in the back, which turned out to look so adorable!
See for yourself ;)

I couldn't find the right fabric for the skirt so that's when my art dresses went on hold . . . ugh!
Many months later . . .
A very nice lady, who recently became a wonderful neighbor and friend, gave me a suitcase full of stunning fabrics . . . "a dream come true! The bodice can now become the adorable art dress of my dreams!!" As it turns out, the color of the bodice is a little off from the fabric I have available for the skirt. This project went on hold as that is when I started the wedding dress project for my mother.
stay tuned for my continuation ;)
